The Vis Collective is a research lab studying the intersection of visualization, data, and people. We have a particular focus on applied visualization research: we design visualization tools for people in the world, learning new things about visualization, data, and design as we do so.

As a multidisciplinary group, we share an enthusiasm for applying different theoretical foundations in our research. Our ethos values different ways of knowing and being in the world, and our research methods are deliberately diverse. Our work includes elements of computer science, design, HCI, STS, and a general desire to make technology work better for more people.

Where We Are

Department of Science & Technology, Linköping University

(campus) Norrköping, Sweden

The Vis Collective is a research group situated within the Department of Science & Technology at Linköping University. We are affiliated with the Division of Media & Information Technology as well as the Visualization Center C. Geographically we are located on LiU's campus in Norrköping, Sweden. Norrköping is a picturesque city about 150km south-west of Stockholm. As a former textile city, the old mills have now been converted to university offices, a research park, and public musuem spaces.
